Hyderabad: Elections to determine the majority trade union in Telangana RTC will be held on October 9 through a secret ballot. The Telangana Labour Joint Commissioner announced the election schedule on Friday, formally setting the process in motion.
The election will determine the recognised majority workers’ union in the RTC. Officials have laid out a schedule covering preparation of voter lists, objections, allocation of symbols, polling and declaration of results.
Depot managers will submit draft voter lists to the respective district Deputy Returning Officers on September 22. Objections from trade unions will also be invited as part of the process.
The unions can file their objections with the Deputy Returning Officers on September 24. Officials will resolve the objections and finalise the voter lists on September 25.
The final voter lists will be supplied to the unions contesting the elections on September 26. Election symbols will also be allotted to the participating unions on the same day.
RTC union elections to be held by secret ballot
The contesting unions can collect dummy ballot papers from the Deputy Returning Officers on September 29. The main polling will take place on October 9 through a secret ballot.
Voting will begin at 5 AM and continue until 6 PM. RTC employees eligible to vote will choose among the unions contesting for majority status.
Postal ballot voting will take place on October 14 and 15. The entire election process will conclude with the declaration of results on October 17.
The schedule marks the formal start of the process to determine the majority workers’ union in Telangana RTC. The result will establish which trade union secures majority support among the participating RTC workforce.
