Telangana to distribute Rajiv Yuva Vikasam sanction letters to 5 lakh youth on June 2

Hyderabad: Telangana’s ambitious Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme is set to roll out on a grand scale starting June 2, with sanction letters to be distributed across all constituencies as part of the State Formation Day celebrations. The initiative aims to empower five lakh young people through self-employment opportunities, backed by an unprecedented ₹8,000 crore budget.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu chaired a high-level meeting at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat on Tuesday, where he reviewed the scheme’s progress and instructed officials to ensure smooth coordination ahead of the launch.

He stressed that Rajiv Yuva Vikasam is a flagship program of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government, designed to address unemployment and uplift youth across communities. From June 2 to 9, sanction letters will be distributed constituency-wise, followed by training programs from June 10 to 15 at the district and local levels. The final grounding—implementation of financial and logistical support—will begin after June 15.

The Deputy CM also announced that the scheme will continue in monthly phases, ensuring wider reach and sustained impact. He urged welfare departments catering to SC, ST, BC, and minority communities to collaborate with district collectors and in-charge ministers for effective execution.

In a notable move, urban youth interested in joining the gig economy will be allowed to buy two-wheelers under the scheme. Welfare corporation chairpersons have been directed to process and forward applications without delay.

Criticising the previous decade of governance, Vikramarka said youth welfare had been overlooked, whereas the current administration achieved in one year what others failed to deliver in ten. “No other state has invested ₹8,000 crore in a year solely for youth employment. This is a national record,” he said, attributing the success to CM Revanth Reddy’s leadership under Indiramma Rajyam.

A State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting was held last week to streamline the financial flow. Since then, departmental officials have been in continuous talks with banks to finalise disbursement mechanisms.

Senior bureaucrats, including Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, and heads of welfare departments participated in the review meeting. The Deputy CM urged officials to hold video conferences with collectors and leave no stone unturned in ensuring the program’s success on June 2.
