Telangana to launch nutrition policy, strengthen Anganwadi centres: Minister Seethakka

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Anganwadi centres are emerging as a national model by integrating nutrition and early childhood education, said Panchayat Raj and Women & Child Welfare Minister Seethakka on Monday.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Women and Child Welfare Department at Tourism Plaza, Begumpet, the minister said the government is following the vision set in the Telangana Rising 2047 document to enhance services and standards across Anganwadi centres.

Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s instructions, Anganwadi centres are now providing both nutritious food and foundational learning for children. The state will soon launch a dedicated Telangana Nutrition Plan, with input from experts and stakeholders, to guide comprehensive interventions.

The minister added that the government has also decided to involve women’s self-help groups in supplying nutritious meals to pregnant women and young children.

She said beneficiaries are currently provided 200 ml milk daily, along with two servings of egg biryani and other balanced meals.

Criticising BJP-ruled states, she pointed out that many have eliminated eggs from their Anganwadi menus, unlike Telangana which has prioritised nutritional value without ideological compromise.
