Telangana land resurvey to prioritise farmers and resolve disputes

Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directed officials to conduct the Telangana land resurvey in farmers’ presence and give priority to their interests. He said the exercise should help resolve land disputes and secure ownership records across the State. Accordingly, officials must involve farmers throughout the process.

As part of the monitoring plan, Ponguleti instructed tahsildars to visit villages where survey work was under way every day. Meanwhile, Revenue Divisional Officers, Additional Collectors and Collectors must closely supervise the exercise. He also directed these senior officials to visit the villages at least once a week.

The government aims to survey every inch of land across Telangana by next year, the Minister said. Through this exercise, officials would help landowners secure clear ownership records and reduce disputes. The initiative also aims to provide farmers with reliable documentation of their land.

Ponguleti said the government would provide every farmer with comprehensive land records and passbooks. These documents would serve as Aadhaar-like identity proof for land ownership. In this way, the government intends to strengthen farmers’ access to secure land records.

Telangana land resurvey to begin in selected revenue villages

Separately, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Ranga Reddy district in-charge Minister D. Sridhar Babu held a review meeting at the Medchal-Malkajgiri Collectorate on Wednesday. During the meeting, they examined land surveys, revenue administration, stamps and registration, and housing issues in the erstwhile Ranga Reddy district.

Addressing officials, Ponguleti described the Telangana land resurvey as a prestigious government initiative. He said the first phase would cover selected revenue villages in every district. The government would take up this phase on a fast-track basis.

However, officials must follow the prescribed legal provisions while conducting the exercise, he added. The Minister also called for regular field-level supervision.

Under the monitoring arrangement, tahsildars must visit villages where survey work was progressing every day. At the same time, senior revenue officials must inspect the villages at least once a week.
