Hyderabad: The Telangana Department of Horticulture will conduct a training programme on urban farming and indoor mushroom cultivation on December 13, 2025. The initiative aims to promote home-based, pesticide-free vegetable cultivation in urban households.
The session will be held from 10 am to 1 pm at the Telangana Horticulture Training Institute (THTI) in Red Hills, Hyderabad. It is part of the “Mana Illu Mana Kuragayalu” campaign, which encourages families to grow their own vegetables in limited urban spaces.
Focus on nutrition, income, and climate-friendly practices
Officials cited Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) guidelines recommending 400 grams of vegetables per adult daily. They stated that urban farming and indoor mushroom cultivation can enhance household nutrition, generate income, and offer employment with low space and manpower requirements.
The programme also supports better public health and reduced carbon emissions by promoting home-grown produce. Registration costs ₹100. Interested participants can contact 8977714411 or 8688848714 for more information.
