Telangana aims to become top global wedding destination: Minister Jupally

Hyderabad: Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said Telangana is working to become a leading global wedding destination. He made the announcement on Sunday while addressing the fourth South India Wedding Planners’ Congress in Hyderabad. The event was organised by the Telangana Chamber of Events Industry (TCEI) in partnership with the state Tourism Department.

Speaking at Akshaya Convention in the Financial District, Jupally noted that Telangana offers ideal venues for weddings of all budgets and themes. These include historic forts, royal palaces, scenic rivers, forest retreats, and five-star hotels.

He emphasised that India’s wedding industry is expanding rapidly. Telangana, he said, is well-positioned to play a key role. “The world is watching India as a wedding destination. Our aim is to place Telangana on that global map,” he stated.

Furthermore, the Minister urged wedding planners to view Telangana not just as a location, but as a living cultural experience. He called on them to promote the state’s offerings both within India and abroad.

To attract more weddings to the state, the government will launch Familiarization (FAM) tours for industry professionals. It will also fast-track approvals for wedding events. In addition, new policies are being prepared to attract private-public investments.

“The Tourism Department is working with the motto: ‘You think, we will implement’,” Jupally said. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the sector.

He further announced that from the next edition, the event would be rebranded as the “Indian Wedding Planners Congress.” This move aims to unite various Indian wedding traditions from Rajasthan to Kashmir on a single platform.

Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, TCEI President Alla Balaram Babu, General Secretary Ravi Bura, and others also participated in the event.
