Hyderabad: The Telangana civil supplies department has warned ration card holders to finish their e-KYC process by December 31 or lose access to their monthly ration quota.
Officials said many people have still not updated their details, despite repeated reminders. They stressed that only those who complete e-KYC will continue to get ration supplies. All cardholders must visit their local ration shops and use the e-POS machine to scan their fingerprints.
This alert has caused concern, especially among users facing fingerprint mismatches. Some said the machines often fail to read their prints. “If the device doesn’t work, how is that our mistake?” asked one cardholder.
New cardholders miss out on schemes, urge inclusion
Newly approved cardholders say they are not receiving key welfare schemes. While older cardholders are getting subsidised rice, cooking gas, free electricity, and benefits under the Gruha Jyoti scheme, the new ones say they’ve been left out without reason.
Both users and ration dealers are now asking the government to extend the e-KYC deadline beyond December 31. They fear many families may lose access to food supplies. However, the department says it has run the e-KYC drive for two years and that cardholders had enough time to comply.
