Hyderabad: Telangana Congress in-charges Meenakshi Natarajan and state party president Mahesh Kumar Goud held a Zoom meeting with District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents to convey new eligibility rules and disciplinary directives.
They announced that any aspirant for the DCC president role must have served in the party continuously for at least five years with a record of disciplined conduct. Candidates failing to meet this condition may be removed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers.
Officials clarified that previous DCC presidents will not be reappointed. Additionally, family members of party representatives will not be considered for the posts. Preference will be given to leaders from the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, minorities, and women.
The leaders prohibited DCC candidates from holding personal meetings or sessions with AICC observers. All district-level meetings must be held either at party offices or in public-accessible venues. Holding such meetings in private homes or personal offices has been explicitly barred.
New directives for Telangana Congress DCC selection process
The AICC’s ongoing “Vote Chori” programme also came up during the briefing. For each village, the party expects a minimum of 100 signatures to be collected and submitted as part of the initiative.
The guidelines, Natarajan said, follow directives from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and organisational in-charge K. C. Venugopal.
