Hyderabad: Telangana will see a sharp rise in cold conditions again from Monday, with night temperatures expected to fall significantly for a week, weather experts said.
Meteorologists said the cold that weakened over the past few days would strengthen from January 5 to January 12. During this period, strong cold winds will sweep across the state. Officials warned that cold wave–like conditions, similar to those seen in the first week of December, would return.
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre said dense fog would affect several parts of the state over the next two days. Fog intensity will remain high during the night and early morning hours. As a result, visibility may drop in many areas. Day temperatures are also expected to stay low. They will range between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday night, Kohir in Sangareddy district recorded the lowest temperature in the state. The mercury dipped to 11.1 degrees Celsius, officials said.
Telangana cold wave conditions to intensify from Monday
Weather experts said night temperatures would fall sharply across north and central Telangana. Therefore, they advised people to limit exposure during late-night and early-morning hours.
Andhra Pradesh to receive moderate rainfall
Meanwhile, meteorologists said a surface circulation had formed over the Bay of Bengal. This system will trigger the formation of a low-pressure area near Sri Lanka after January 8.
Due to its impact, moderate rain will lash parts of Tamil Nadu from January 9. South coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are also likely to receive rainfall, experts said.
