Telangana CEO welcomes Mexican delegation at IICDEM 2026 in New Delhi

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy on Tuesday welcomed a senior Mexican delegation at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, ahead of the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM 2026). The Mexican delegation was visiting as part of ongoing international cooperation on election management.

The visiting delegation included Marisa Arlene Cabral Porchas, Head of Mexico’s International Affairs Unit, and Norma Irene De la Cruz Magaña, Electoral Councillor. Telangana Additional CEO Vasan Venkateshwar Reddy, along with Special Deputy Collectors Chennaiah and Prasuna, joined the interaction with the Mexican delegation. This highlighted the growing partnership between the countries.

Global electoral dialogue opens at Bharat Mandapam

The three-day IICDEM 2026 conference, organised by the Election Commission of India through IIIDEM, will run from January 21 to 23. It aims to foster international collaboration on electoral best practices. The Mexican delegation will contribute to these global discussions.

The event includes 36 thematic working groups led by Chief Electoral Officers from across India. Participants also include scholars from institutions such as IITs, IIMs, National Law Universities, and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. Over 40 bilateral meetings are scheduled with election management bodies from various countries. Notably, the Mexican delegation will take part in several of these meetings.

Organisers said the conference underscores India’s growing role in shaping global democratic dialogue. This happens through structured exchanges on electoral management and reforms.
