Hyderabad: The expert committee constituted to evaluate the caste census in Telangana submitted its detailed report to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, with a key focus on the educational and economic status of backward classes (BCs) across the state.
Headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice Sudarshan Reddy, the panel presented findings based on extensive field data and statistical review. The report is being seen as a crucial step toward shaping welfare and reservation policies in the state.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has earlier acknowledged that the caste census initiative was taken up following directions from Rahul Gandhi, who had highlighted the issue during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Revanth termed the exercise a landmark effort aimed at making Telangana a model for the nation.
According to sources, the report offers targeted recommendations to address disparities and improve outcomes for backward groups. The CM commended Gandhi for initiating the conversation on caste-based enumeration and claimed the central government has responded to the growing pressure by considering a similar move nationally.
The report marks a major milestone in Telangana’s push for data-driven social justice and the implementation of inclusive welfare policies.
