Hyderabad: Renowned oncologist and government advisor Dr Nori Dattatreyudu met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and presented the Telangana Cancer Atlas at the Chief Minister’s Jubilee Hills residence.
Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, CMO Principal Secretary Srinivasa Raju and Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu attended the meeting.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy appreciated Dr Nori Dattatreyudu for preparing a comprehensive report on cancer prevalence across Telangana.
He said the Telangana Cancer Atlas would help the government identify high-risk regions and understand the causes behind the disease.
Telangana Cancer Atlas to support screening centres
Revanth Reddy stated that the report would support the establishment of special cancer screening centres in affected regions across the state.
He also announced plans to expand specialised cancer hospitals beyond Hyderabad to improve healthcare access in other districts.
The Chief Minister directed officials to strengthen cancer treatment services provided under the Aarogyasri scheme.
Officials said the Cancer Atlas would help authorities improve cancer detection and treatment planning across the state.
The report is expected to assist the government in developing targeted healthcare interventions in regions with higher cancer prevalence.
