Unemployed engineers demand postponement of Telangana AEE exam

Hyderabad: Unemployed civil engineering graduates staged a protest outside the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) office, demanding the postponement of the Telangana AEE exam scheduled for November 6. The aspirants said the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) examination and the Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineer (SSC JE) examination fall on the same day. Consequently, candidates preparing for both examinations feared they would lose an opportunity to appear for one of them.

The protesters said the state government had announced only a limited number of vacancies for these posts. Therefore, they argued that scheduling two important examinations on the same date would put civil engineering candidates at a disadvantage. They urged TGPSC to change the AEE examination date to allow eligible candidates to attend both tests.

According to the protesters, they had been visiting the TGPSC office for the past 10 days to seek a postponement. However, they alleged that officials had not responded to their repeated requests. Frustrated by the lack of action, the candidates staged a demonstration outside the commission’s office.

Telangana AEE exam date clash raises concerns among job aspirants

The candidates said the overlap between the Telangana AEE exam and SSC JE examination had created uncertainty among unemployed civil engineers. In particular, those preparing for both recruitment tests faced a difficult choice because they could not attend examinations held simultaneously.

Meanwhile, the protesters linked their concerns to broader dissatisfaction among unemployed youth over government recruitment promises. They said the Congress government had promised to provide two lakh government jobs and announce a job calendar before coming to power. However, aspirants have continued to raise concerns over the fulfilment of those commitments and have staged protests across Telangana.

The candidates maintained that the government had announced relatively few vacancies, making every recruitment opportunity important for job seekers. Accordingly, they called on TGPSC to reconsider the examination schedule and announce a revised date for the R&B AEE test.

The protesters continued to demand a change in the November 6 schedule, citing the clash with the SSC JE examination. They said a postponement would give civil engineering graduates a fair chance to appear for both recruitment tests.
