Hyderabad: Former minister and Sanathnagar BRS MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav accused the Congress government of deceiving BCs with false promises. He said the ruling party projected itself as a champion of BC rights but failed to act on its own commitments.
Talasani slams Congress over BC quota dilution
Talasani said the Congress stepped back from its Kamareddy Declaration, which promised 42% reservation for BCs in major sectors. The promise required parliamentary approval and inclusion in the 9th Schedule for legal validity. He asked why the government avoided approaching the President or pressing the Centre for action on this issue.
He then criticised senior Congress leaders for skipping the dharna at Jantar Mantar. According to him, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi spoke often about BC upliftment. Yet none of them attended the main protest, and their absence exposed the party’s lack of commitment.
The BRS MLA said the Congress allotted only 17.08% reservation for BCs in the upcoming Sarpanch polls. He alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy created a historic breach of trust by diluting the quota. Talasani demanded that the Sarpanch elections be halted until the 42% reservation was restored.
He challenged the government to release the promised 60% reservation list within one week. Failure to act, he warned, would trigger strong protests from BC communities. Talasani said the ruling party must correct its decisions before public anger rises further.
