Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Friday demanded the establishment of a separate municipal corporation for the Lashkar area. He called the merger of 27 municipalities into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) illegal.
Participating in a protest at Dharna Chowk along with fellow BRS MLA Mutha Gopal, Talasani said the ongoing delimitation process lacked transparency. Additionally, it failed to follow proper procedures.
Calls GHMC merger unjust and unscientific
Talasani strongly criticised the way the Lashkar area was absorbed into GHMC. He stated that the decision was made without scientific basis or consultation. Furthermore, he added that even the mayor was unaware of the proposed changes, which he called “shameful.”
He argued that the Secunderabad area, with its 200-year history, deserves recognition as a separate corporation. “People want their tax revenue to be used solely for the development of their own area,” he said.
Vows to intensify protest until demand is met
Describing the demand as genuine, Talasani pledged to escalate the agitation until a separate Lashkar area corporation is formed. He asserted that the local population is firmly behind the demand and will not relent until justice is done.
