19-year-old student dies by suicide in Kamareddy after alleged betrayal in relationship

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old girl in Kamareddy district died by suicide on Thursday, reportedly after being betrayed in a relationship. The incident occurred in Sabdalpur village of Ellareddy mandal, police said.

According to Ellareddy SI Mahesh, the deceased, identified as Savitri, was the elder daughter of Battula Ramachander and Gangamani. Savitri had recently completed her Intermediate studies and was attending computer classes in Ellareddy town.

On Wednesday, Savitri’s parents had gone to Bhavanipet village following the death of a relative. As usual, she attended her computer class in the morning and returned home in the afternoon. Later in the evening, a neighbour, Battula Lakshmaiah, entered the house to watch television. When the power supply was restored, he called Savitri to switch on the TV. Receiving no response, he went inside and found her hanging from a ceiling fan with a nylon rope.

Police recover note, register case

Police said a notebook found at the spot contained a message indicating that Savitri was in a relationship with a man named Pradeep from Setpalli Sangareddy village in Lingampet mandal. In the note, she wrote that Pradeep had stopped talking to her and betrayed her in the name of love.

Savitri had earlier pursued her Intermediate education while staying with relatives in Nagerreddypet mandal and attending Siddhartha Junior College.

Based on a complaint from her father, Ramachander, police registered a case and began an investigation.
