Karimnagar: Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Thursday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to completing all pending irrigation projects, calling it crucial for long-term agricultural growth across the region.
Addressing a high-level review meeting in Karimnagar, Sridhar Babu acknowledged the challenges posed by the Dam Safety Authority’s curbs on the Kaleshwaram project, but asserted that Telangana continues to top the country in paddy production. “We’ve already procured 94% of the season’s harvest. I’ve directed officials to fast-track the remaining process,” he said.
The Minister also assured full support to farmers hit by recent unseasonal rains. “We understand their distress. They should not lose hope the government stands with them and will provide necessary relief,” he added.

Turning to land governance, Sridhar Babu launched a sharp critique of the previous BRS regime, accusing it of leaving behind a chaotic revenue system. He said the Congress government, through the rollout of the ‘Bhu Bharati’ initiative, is now setting things right. “Land that was taken by force or manipulation will be returned to rightful owners. We’re committed to justice,” he declared.
On housing, the Minister confirmed that all eligible low-income families will be covered under the revived Indiramma Housing Scheme. “There’s no need for anxiety. Every deserving household will get a home,” he assured.
Sridhar Babu concluded by directing officials to draft a clear action plan based on the meeting’s discussions. “Implementation must be timely, focused, and outcome-driven,” he said.
