Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon revival is expected to bring fresh spells of rain across several parts of India, including Telangana, from today until July 19, as a weather system over the Pacific Ocean moves towards the Bay of Bengal, according to the Meteorological Department.
Officials said the southwest monsoon, which had weakened over the past few days, is likely to regain strength due to changing weather conditions over the Bay of Bengal. They added that stronger sea winds and the formation of dense cloud bands are expected to support increased rainfall activity.
The department said the system is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area within the next two to three days. It is then expected to move gradually towards the Odisha and West Bengal coasts, bringing rainfall to eastern parts of the country.
Southwest Monsoon revival to boost Telangana rainfall
The Meteorological Department said the first week of July witnessed widespread rainfall across most parts of the country. However, monsoon activity weakened after that, resulting in reduced rainfall and a rise in temperatures.
Officials said the latest developments over the Bay of Bengal are expected to improve weather conditions. They forecast a high probability of rainfall in the northern and western districts of Telangana.
According to the department, rain activity will begin today, intensify from Thursday and continue until July 19.
