Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir accused the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) of deliberately splitting Muslim votes in Bihar, saying the party’s presence in Muslim-majority areas ultimately benefits the BJP.
MIM acting as BJP’s ‘B-team,’ says Shabbir
After campaigning for Congress candidate Md Qamar Ul Huda in Kishanganj’s Kharkhari village on Saturday, Shabbir Ali said MIM had become a “vote katwa” force. “Instead of supporting secular parties, MIM is weakening them. This vote division helps BJP consolidate its position,” he said.
He pointed to past elections where MIM won just four seats but cost Congress victories in over two dozen constituencies. “People now understand their strategy. This time, MIM candidates won’t even save their deposits,” he claimed.

Congress calls for Muslim vote unity
Shabbir Ali urged Muslim voters to unite behind Congress candidates to prevent fragmentation of their political influence. “Every split vote strengthens communal forces. MIM’s entry into these areas is clearly meant to derail Congress candidates and weaken Muslim representation,” he said.
He said Congress had always stood for inclusive politics and real empowerment of minorities. “Qamar Ul Huda represents secular values. The community must ensure his win and reject divisive politics,” he said.
Shabbir also appealed to Congress workers to intensify ground campaigns and counter misinformation. “This fight is not just against BJP but against those indirectly aiding it by breaking secular unity,” he stated.
Warns of national pattern benefiting BJP
He said the pattern is clear: “Wherever MIM contests, BJP gains. It’s time voters saw through this design. Only unity among secular forces can stop the BJP’s divisive politics.”
