SCR GM reviews safety, orders winter preparedness across all divisions

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava conducted a zone-wide review meeting on Sunday at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. The focus was on operational safety and winter preparedness.

Additional General Manager Satya Prakash, Principal Heads of Departments, and Divisional Railway Managers from Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded attended the meeting.

GM issues directives to boost safety compliance

Srivastava reviewed the progress of ongoing safety drives across the zone. He directed Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) to enforce safety protocols more strictly. Furthermore, he urged officials to improve training and counselling for private siding staff.

The meeting also covered key concerns. These included the working hours of safety personnel, lighting in yards and pathways, and the mandatory use of detonators by keymen and patrolling teams.

Strong focus on winter readiness and inspections

The General Manager placed special emphasis on winter preparedness. He instructed teams to clear bushes along tracks to improve signal visibility. In addition, he ordered regular inspections of critical crossings, bridges, and station approaches.

Srivastava also highlighted the importance of timely overhauling of rolling stock. He called for strict adherence to Periodical Overhauling (POH) and Routine Overhauling (ROH) schedules to maintain train safety and punctuality.

The meeting also included a review of safety tools. These included GPS trackers for keymen, walkie-talkies, and fog safety devices for trains. Officials were asked to ensure availability and functionality of all such equipment.
