Hyderabad: With tensions rising along the India-Pakistan border, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged fellow legislators to show their support for the Indian armed forces by donating a month’s salary to the National Defence Fund.
Calling the gesture both symbolic and meaningful, Revanth asked Members of the Legislative Assembly and Council to make the contribution voluntarily, as a show of solidarity with troops facing cross-border threats.
Sources said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka is likely to announce the donation on behalf of Congress MLAs and MLCs after holding internal discussions. The Chief Minister also appealed to legislators from other political parties to take part in the initiative.
Revanth’s appeal comes at a time when Indian forces are on high alert, responding to increased activity across the border. The proposed donation is meant to offer both moral and material support to those serving on the frontlines.
