Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday invited people to suggest a name for the proposed Warangal Airport. He sought suggestions through a post on ‘X’.
The Chief Minister said the long-pending dream of an airport in Warangal was becoming a reality. He credited the efforts of the Praja Palana government for moving the project forward.
Revanth Reddy also targeted the previous BRS government over the delay. He alleged that BRS leaders had spent a decade focusing on family interests and luxurious farmhouses.
He accused the previous government of failing to make adequate efforts to secure an airport for Warangal.
The Chief Minister said the State government had allocated Rs.295 crore for acquiring the required land. He said the land acquisition process had been completed.
The acquired land was subsequently handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), he said. According to Revanth Reddy, these steps had given concrete shape to the long-pending airport project.
Warangal Airport to open new opportunities
Revanth Reddy said the proposed airport would be more than an aviation facility for the region. He said it would create new opportunities across several sectors.
The Chief Minister identified industries, tourism, education, employment and investment as areas expected to benefit from the airport. He said the Warangal-Mamunur Airport would emerge as a new symbol of a developing and better-connected Telangana.
Revanth Reddy also said he was eagerly looking forward to travelling from the airport once it becomes operational.
