Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will soon inaugurate the newly constructed Narmetta palm oil factory in Siddipet district, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced on Saturday.
The ₹300 crore facility, located in Narmetta village, was developed by the Telangana State Cooperative Oilseeds Growers Federation (TS-Oilfed). During a visit to the site, Tummala Nageswara Rao inspected the premises and oversaw a successful trial run.
Tummala stated that the plant is the first in India to deploy advanced technology for palm oil processing. He added that the factory’s launch reflects the long-term vision of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to boost agricultural income.
“The introduction of this palm oil factory will usher in a new era of prosperity for farmers. Oil palm cultivation offers sustained profits, and growing intercrops will enable farmers to generate additional income,” said the minister.
He further noted that Telangana is poised to lead the country in oil palm cultivation. Despite financial constraints, the government completed the facility in line with the Chief Minister’s commitment to supporting farmers.
The factory is designed to extract oil from both fruit and seed, with its power requirements being met through waste generated during the production process.
During the visit, the minister held discussions with local farmers, addressing their concerns and farming practices. When farmers highlighted delays in transport payments, Tummala directed officials to resolve the issue immediately.
