Rahul Gandhi as PM only solution to India’s problems: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said Rahul Gandhi as PM is the only solution to the challenges confronting India and urged Congress leaders to work relentlessly to secure that goal.

He asked district Congress Committee presidents from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to strive for the maximum number of parliamentary seats in both states. He said sustained organisational effort is essential to ensure Rahul Gandhi as PM becomes a reality.

Bhatti Vikramarka made the remarks at a training camp for district Congress committee presidents held in Vikarabad on Monday. He addressed the theme, “Caste Issues and Reservations – The Role of Congress Workers in Combatting Caste Discrimination.”

He said Rahul Gandhi personally visits places where incidents of untouchability or caste discrimination occur. Referring to Hyderabad Central University, he recalled that after the suicide of Rohith Vemula, who reportedly faced caste discrimination, Rahul Gandhi visited the campus and interacted with students. According to him, that intervention shaped the subsequent movement.

Campaign push for Rahul Gandhi as PM gains focus

Bhatti Vikramarka said Congress leaders at the time restricted party workers from entering the university campus. He stated that Rahul Gandhi believed untouchability should be treated as a social issue rather than politicised.

He added that Karnataka and Telangana are now working on legislation in memory of Rohith Vemula. And also said Rahul Gandhi had promised equitable distribution of resources and wealth before the elections. Since forming the government, he claimed, Congress has implemented development and welfare programmes in line with that assurance.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that, for the first time since Independence, a caste census was completed within 50 days and presented to the Legislative Assembly. He said the Assembly approved it unanimously.

Bhatti Vikramarka accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to weaken the Congress Party. He said Congress played a key role in securing India’s Independence and in enacting laws aimed at economic, social and political equality.

He alleged that certain political forces seek to maintain social and economic divisions. Acknowledging that caste remains a reality in India, and shared his personal experiences of caste discrimination. However, he reaffirmed his resolve to pursue his objectives despite such challenges.
