Priyanka Gandhi praises Revanth Reddy on delimitation stand

Hyderabad: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi praised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for his delimitation stand and his efforts to highlight concerns over the Centre’s approach.

She made the remarks when the Chief Minister met her in New Delhi today. During the meeting, she congratulated him for his role in opposing the proposed constitutional amendment in Parliament.

Priyanka Gandhi said his interventions exposed shortcomings in the Centre’s delimitation plan. She also appreciated his efforts to build unity among southern States on the issue.

Delimitation stand gains support from Congress leadership

She said such efforts are crucial to protect States that may face adverse impact from the proposed changes. Moreover, she stressed the need to safeguard federal balance.

Revanth Reddy thanked Priyanka Gandhi for supporting opposition unity. He acknowledged her role in strengthening collective resistance along with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

He said the proposed delimitation exercise could weaken southern, northeastern and smaller States. Therefore, he called for a united stand to ensure fair representation.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi criticised the Centre’s move to link women’s empowerment initiatives with delimitation. She said the women’s reservation bill had already received approval and did not require such linkage.
