Hyderabad: BRS leaders staged a protest in Adilabad against BJP MP Tejasvi Surya over his comments on Telangana’s formation.
The party organised the demonstration condemning his comparison of Telangana’s formation with the country’s partition. Leaders said the remarks hurt public sentiment.
BRS district president and former minister Jogu Ramanna led a rally from the party office to Collector Chowrasta. During the march, protesters raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Tejasvi Surya.
Tejasvi Surya triggers protest rally and police intervention
BRS leaders attempted to burn an effigy of Tejasvi Surya during the protest. However, police intervened and stopped them.
As a result, a scuffle broke out between police personnel and BRS leaders at the spot. Both sides pushed each other during the confrontation.
Meanwhile, police increased security to control the situation and prevent escalation. The protest continued under tight security arrangements.
