Minister Ponnam pays tribute to Chakali Ailamma on 130th birth anniversary in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar paid rich tributes to freedom fighter Chakali Ailamma on her 130th birth anniversary at Ravindra Bharathi on Friday.

He unveiled the book Rajakula Muddubidda Chakali Ailamma and also released a special song written and sung by Inagurthi Madhu.

Ailamma remembered as a fearless fighter

Ponnam hailed Ailamma as a fearless woman who fought against oppressive rule for land, justice, and women’s dignity. “Even 130 years later, the government saluting her memory shows her greatness as a warrior,” he said.

Moreover, he urged students to focus on education. He also asked communities to preserve dignity in traditional occupations while adapting them to modern needs for economic growth.

Welfare assurances for BC communities

The Minister announced plans to establish electric dry-cleaning centres in all 119 constituencies for Rajaka families. He further promised uninterrupted supply of 250 units of free electricity. In addition, he warned that officials creating hurdles in implementation would face suspension.

Ponnam stated that G.O. 102 on reservations would be implemented within three days. He reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment under CM Revanth Reddy to provide 42% reservations for BCs, Dalits, and tribals. He also stressed that the decision would be strongly defended in court.

Call for unity on reservations

“Protecting reservations is everyone’s responsibility. Just as Telangana was achieved after a united struggle, we must now unite to safeguard 42% reservations,” he told the gathering.

Furthermore, he appealed to those moving courts not to block social justice. “We are not taking away anyone’s rights. We only seek what is rightfully ours, similar to Tamil Nadu’s model,” he said.

Former Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, MLC Baswaraju Saraiah, MLA Eerlapalli Shankar, BC Commission Chairman Niranjan, Finance Commission Chairman Rajayya, BC Corporation Chairman Nuthi Srikanth Goud, and BC Commissioner Bala Mayadevi joined the programme along with several other public representatives.
