Ponnam Prabhakar accuses BJP, BRS of covert deal in Karimnagar

Hyderabad: Telangana minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday accused the BJP and BRS of fostering corruption in Karimnagar. He held MLA Gangula Kamalakar and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar directly responsible for enabling graft in the district.

Speaking at the Karimnagar DCC office, Ponnam rejected Bandi Sanjay’s claim that Congress had entered a ₹100 crore pact with AIMIM. He denied the allegation and countered that it was the BJP that engaged in unethical alliances.

According to Ponnam, the BJP and BRS formed a secret alliance for the Karimnagar Corporation elections. He said both parties had jointly finalised candidates under this hidden arrangement. This, he argued, exposed their double standards in public discourse.

The minister also highlighted Congress-led initiatives in the region. He pointed out that the government was working to upgrade temple infrastructure in Kondagattu and Vemulawada. In contrast, previous leaders, he said, had left Karimnagar neglected for over a decade.

Ponnam accused Kamalakar and Sanjay of institutionalising corruption. “Their conduct has turned Karimnagar into a hub of irregularities,” he said. He assured that the Congress would work to dismantle that legacy and restore integrity to governance.
