Promoting sports is PM Modi’s dream, says Governor Jishnu Dev Varma

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to make sports accessible to every section of society. In fact, he praised the PM Modi sports vision as an inspiration for youth and communities. He was speaking on Thursday at the launch of the “PM Sansad Khel Mahotsav” in Hyderabad.

The event, held at LB Stadium, was organised by the ABV Foundation in the Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency. According to Governor Varma, initiatives like the Khel Mahotsav are playing a crucial role in promoting a strong sporting culture and national unity, which directly aligns with the PM Modi sports vision for India.

He commended the Prime Minister for using sports to enhance India’s global reputation. “Sports are not just games. They shape education, improve health, and build mental strength,” he said. He added that sports are a key part of India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation and highlighted how PM Modi sports vision strongly supports this transformation.

Over 35,000 athletes to take part across 30 venues

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy and BJP Telangana President N. Ramchander Rao also attended the programme. Prominent sportspersons including Pullela Gopichand, Saina Nehwal, Diana David, and Drishti Kesari were present as special guests.

Kishan Reddy explained that the 15-day sports festival would be held across 30 grounds in the Secunderabad constituency. Events such as kabaddi, volleyball, kho-kho, and athletics are being conducted in all seven Assembly segments on a division-wise basis. Notably, the driving force behind this extensive event is the PM Modi sports vision, which aims to create opportunities for all.

He said the festival also includes games like musical chairs for women in slum areas. In addition, there are competitions for college students, journalists, and persons with disabilities.

Expressing optimism, the Union Minister said nearly 35,000 registered athletes will compete. “These young players will showcase their talent and bring pride to the nation,” he added.
