No surprise if Kavitha joins Congress, says MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy

Hyderabad: Congress MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy on Tuesday stated that it would not be surprising if Telangana Jagruthi President K. Kavitha joined the Congress party, sparking renewed political speculation over her next move.

Kavitha, who recently resigned from her MLC post held through the BRS, has been the subject of intense political discussion, especially as she is reportedly charting a new course in her political career. Some reports have hinted that she may launch a new party, while others suggest a potential shift to Congress.

Referring to recent party switches, Malreddy said, “Did anyone expect Danam Nagender or Kadiyam Srihari to join the Congress? But they did. So it wouldn’t shock anyone if Kavitha joins too.”

Malreddy eyes ministerial berth, cautions Congress leadership

The MLA, who is lobbying for a cabinet position, said that denying him a ministerial berth would be a loss for the Congress party, not for him personally. He noted that despite a district with a population of two crore, no ministerial representation has been granted so far.

On local administrative issues, Malreddy dismissed rumours of Rangareddy district being renamed. While he supported the formation of new municipalities, he said the district’s structure should remain unchanged.

Real estate, Pharma City and KCR

Malreddy also commented on rising real estate activity near the proposed Bharat Future City. “Land rates are increasing, and no one is willing to sell now,” he said.

Recalling his past political contest with BRS President K. Chandrashekar Rao, Malreddy claimed that KCR had defeated him in retaliation for his opposition to the Pharma City project. “Had it been built, it would have caused pollution across a 50-kilometre radius,” he said.
