Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao said the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam marked a major reform to strengthen women’s political representation.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enacting the law. He said it elevated women from voters to decision-makers.
Ramchander Rao spoke at a sand art event organised by BJP Mahila Morcha at Pallavi College on Friday. Rao said the Nari Shakti Vandan guaranteed 33 percent reservation for women in legislatures.
Rao described the measure as a significant step for women’s dignity and participation. He added that it addressed a long-pending demand.

Rao said the Act was passed in 2023 and would take effect through constitutional processes. He said implementation was expected from 2029.
Rao criticised the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government. Rao alleged it treated women as a vote bank without real empowerment.
According to Rao, the new law would ensure meaningful participation of women in governance. He said it would expand leadership opportunities across the country.
