Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a Sub-Registrar bribe case against a Narayanpet official and a private person over an alleged Rs 90,000 demand. The case involved Lagisetty Venkat Swamy, Sub-Registrar Grade-II at Narayanpet, and Kammari Nagesh, a private person.
According to the ACB, Venkat Swamy allegedly demanded Rs 90,000 from a complainant on July 18. The money was allegedly sought for extending an official favour in completing a house registration.
The officer allegedly received Rs 50,000 as part payment on July 21 through Nagesh. The ACB identified Nagesh as the owner of Inti Bojanam Mess.
Sub-Registrar bribe case involves Rs 50,000 payment
After the alleged part payment, Venkat Swamy subsequently demanded the remaining Rs 40,000, according to the ACB. The agency then registered the Sub-Registrar bribe case against Venkat Swamy and Nagesh for alleged criminal misconduct.
The ACB alleged that Venkat Swamy had acted improperly and dishonestly while discharging his official duties. It accused him of seeking an undue advantage in connection with the house registration.
Both Venkat Swamy and Nagesh were being produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally. The authorities sought their judicial remand in the case.
Meanwhile, the ACB withheld the identity of the complainant for security reasons. The investigation remained underway.
