Hyderabad: Narayanguda police arrested two persons involved in ATM attention diversion thefts across multiple areas in the city.
Police said the accused targeted people at ATM centres and cheated them using fake UPI transactions. They made the arrests under the Khairatabad Zone.
Police identified the accused as Mohammed Salman, 26, a Rapido driver, and Azaan Tauqeel Khan, 19, a student. Both live in Hyderabad.
According to police, the duo approached victims at cash deposit machines and requested cash. In return, they promised to transfer the amount through UPI.
However, they collected money and showed a fake payment confirmation screen. As a result, victims did not receive any money in these ATM attention diversion thefts.
Police linked the accused to multiple cases at Narayanguda, Masab Tank, Sultan Bazar, IS Sadan, and Domalguda police stations.
