Hyderabad: The Musi rejuvenation project is currently under study, and the government will prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) shortly, IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu told the Telangana Assembly on Friday.
Replying during Question Hour on the second day of the Assembly session, the Minister said the government was studying Musi development works from Osman Sagar to Bapughat. He said officials divided the Musi rejuvenation project into five zones to ensure phased execution.
Sridhar Babu said the government planned to take up development works over a 55-km stretch in the first phase. He added that studies were underway from Osman Sagar to Gaurrelli, while proposals also included the development of Gandhi Sarovar.
Musi rejuvenation project to get ADB funding
The Minister said the Asian Development Bank (ADB) had agreed to fund the Musi rejuvenation project. He added that the government had formed a Singapore-based consortium to support the river restoration effort.
Sridhar Babu said MRDCL would implement the Musi project with a loan of ₹4,100 crore. He said the aim was to ensure long-term environmental and urban improvement through systematic river development.
Meanwhile, BRS MLAs staged protests in the Assembly over the urea shortage in the state. They raised slogans against the government during Question Hour.
Reacting sharply, Sridhar Babu questioned the timing of the protest. He asked whether the opposition had any interest in Question Hour proceedings. At the same time, the Minister said the government was ready to discuss the urea issue in the House.
