Municipal elections heat up as CM Revanth Reddy set to begin district tours today

Hyderabad: Political activity intensified across Telangana on Friday as the ruling Congress stepped up preparations for the upcoming municipal elections, following its strong performance in last month’s panchayat polls.

With the municipal elections nearing, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to begin district tours from today, a move that has raised the political temperature in the state. As part of the programme, Revanth Reddy will tour the erstwhile Adilabad district on Friday.

During the visit, the Chief Minister will release water from the Chanaka–Korata barrage and the Sadar Mat barrage. He will also attend a public meeting at Nirmal. At the meeting, he will address party cadres and outline the Congress strategy ahead of the municipal elections.

Party leaders said the Nirmal meeting will mark the campaign signal for the civic polls. Through the event, the Chief Minister will give political direction to grassroots workers.

Congress sharpens focus on civic polls

After the Adilabad visit, Revanth Reddy will tour Mahabubnagar district on Saturday. He will then visit Khammam and Warangal districts the next day as part of the outreach linked to the municipal elections.

Meanwhile, the State Election Commission released the voter lists for the municipal elections earlier. Authorities have also finalised reservations for municipal bodies. Officials plan to issue the election notification within a week.

While opposition parties BRS and BJP have already focused on the municipal elections, the Chief Minister’s district tours have added momentum. With campaign activity picking up, civic politics in Telangana is turning more competitive.
