Ministers lay foundation for ₹2.94 crore civic works in Erragadda division

Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi launched ₹2.94 crore worth of civic infrastructure works in Erragadda division of Jubilee Hills constituency on Saturday.

Foundation works launched for 11 CC roads

The ministers laid foundation stones for 11 cement concrete (CC) road projects covering Bharat Nagar X Roads, Netaji Nagar, Sultan Nagar, Prem Nagar, Shankar Lal Nagar, and Rajiv Nagar. They directed officials to begin work immediately and complete it within the given timeline.

In addition to the ministers, several dignitaries participated in the event. These included Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig, Dairy Corporation Chairman Gutta Amit Reddy, SETWIN Chairman Shivasena Reddy, Urdu Academy Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan, and corporators CN Reddy and Shaheen Begum.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that these road upgrades addressed long-pending demands from residents. He described the projects as part of the Congress government’s “praja palana” approach to grassroots governance. Moreover, he noted that the Jubilee Hills constituency had seen major upgrades in civic infrastructure, particularly in roads and drainage.

In his address, he also highlighted the issuance of 55,000 new ration cards across Hyderabad. He clarified that migrant workers from rural regions, once settled in the city, could also access ration benefits. Furthermore, the state government is currently providing 6 kg of subsidised rice per eligible individual and 200 units of free electricity per household.

Housing for low-income families a key focus

Turning to housing, the minister spoke about urban housing projects under the Indiramma initiative. Although space constraints remain a challenge in Hyderabad, he said the government is helping low-income families with residential construction support wherever possible.

Prabhakar appealed to Union Minister Kishan Reddy to help secure central support for housing under national urban welfare schemes. Additionally, he praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his leadership in modernising the city’s infrastructure.

Godavari Phase 2, RRR projects underway

He also highlighted two major infrastructure projects in progress. The Godavari Phase 2 initiative is set to supply an additional 20 TMC of drinking water to Hyderabad. Simultaneously, the expansion of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) aims to strengthen urban connectivity.

The minister reminded attendees that the Congress government had earlier secured drinking water from Himayat Sagar, Manjeera, Nizam Sagar, Godavari Phase 1, and Krishna Phases 1 and 2. “Infrastructure and welfare delivery remain the top priorities of this government,” he concluded.
