HYDERABAD: Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao strongly criticized the previous government, accusing it of irresponsible governance despite the sacrifices made for the formation of Telangana. Speaking at a public meeting, he reminded people of the hundreds of martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of a separate state.
Jupally stated that the Telangana movement was driven by the dream of a prosperous and happy state where people from all sectors could thrive. He emphasized that the sacrifices were made with the hope of establishing strong and responsible governance that would prioritize public welfare.
However, he alleged that despite Telangana becoming a rich state with a surplus budget, the previous government pushed it into heavy debt. He pointed out that Hyderabad alone generated revenue worth lakhs of crores, but the administration still borrowed ₹8 lakh crore, burdening the state with ₹6,500 crore in loan interest payments.
Jupally accused the previous leaders of misusing public funds and making the state financially unstable. He blamed them for their reckless financial policies, which forced the current government to repay massive debts and interest, despite Telangana’s wealth.
The minister vowed that the current government would focus on transparent governance and financial accountability, ensuring that public money is spent effectively for the welfare of the people.
