Two held with MDMA near Miyapur ahead of New Year

Hyderabad: Police arrested two drug peddlers and seized 10.5 grams of MDMA near Miyapur Cross Road under the limits of Miyapur police station on Monday. The MDMA seizure was significant in the region this month.

Acting on specific intelligence, police rushed to the spot and apprehended the accused. They recovered the contraband during the operation. During questioning, the accused admitted that they procured the MDMA from Mumbai on December 27. Such a MDMA seizure highlights the ongoing drug trafficking issues in the area. They planned to sell the drug in Hyderabad during the New Year season to make quick money.

According to Madhapur zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Ritiraj, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police formally arrested the accused and the MDMA seizure was recorded.

Accused brought MDMA from Mumbai, police say

Police identified the accused as Kethavath Ravi (28) and Jerpula Ravi (35). Both are residents of Maharashtra. Officers made the arrests under the supervision of DCP Ritiraj.

Police said further investigation was in progress. They are working to trace the source of supply. They are also trying to identify other links in the MDMA trafficking network, after the recent seizure.
