Cyberabad Police rescue 22 homeless sleeping on footpaths

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police saved the lives of 22 homeless persons by proactively shifting them from dangerous footpaths to a safe shelter amid a rise in hit-and-run incidents in the Miyapur area.

Acting on safety concerns, police identified homeless people sleeping on footpaths and road margins, where they faced a high risk of fatal accidents. Instead of waiting for mishaps to occur, officers intervened and moved them to a secure location.

Under the supervision of Inspector Shivaprasad, police teams transported the homeless persons from Miyapur to the ‘Aaleti Atom World’ shelter home at Abdullapurmet. The shelter arranged accommodation and food for all 22 individuals.

Cyberabad Police act to prevent hit-and-run tragedies

Police officials said the initiative aimed to prevent loss of life rather than respond after accidents. Recent hit-and-run cases in the Miyapur limits prompted the preventive action.

Officials said footpath sleepers often remain unnoticed despite facing constant danger from speeding vehicles at night. By relocating them, the police reduced the immediate risk to their lives.

Residents and social groups praised the Cyberabad Police for the humane intervention. Officials said similar preventive measures would continue wherever vulnerable people face serious safety threats.
