Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer R.V. Karnan said MCMC approval is mandatory for every political advertisement in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. He made the statement while launching the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) centre in Hyderabad.

The Commissioner inaugurated the MCMC and media control centre in the GHMC headquarters on Wednesday. He explained that from the day the election schedule was announced, all ads in electronic, social, and online media required prior clearance. Moreover, radio, cable, and e-paper advertisements also needed approval from the MCMC before release.
He said print ads published on the polling day or the previous day must also get MCMC permission. Therefore, political parties, contesting candidates, and their agents should submit requests to the committee for all campaign ads.
GHMC chief urges full compliance with election code
Karnan instructed that every printed leaflet, pamphlet, or handbill must display the printer’s and publisher’s names and addresses. He stressed that strict compliance with the election code of conduct was mandatory. In addition, he asked PRO officials to keep the media regularly informed about election-related updates through the new media centre.
GHMC Commissioner heads MCMC for Jubilee Hills bypoll
The MCMC will function under the chairmanship of GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan. GHMC PRO Mamindla Dasharatham will act as Member Secretary. The committee also includes Secunderabad RDO and Jubilee Hills Returning Officer P. Sai Ram, GHMC Deputy Engineer (IT and Social Media) Narsing Rao, Hyderabad PIB Deputy Director Manasa Krishna Kanth, and Indian Express Principal Correspondent Bachanjeet Singh.
Furthermore, the committee will monitor all election-time media content, advertisements, and paid news under the Election Commission’s guidelines. It will ensure that political publicity follows the model code of conduct.
Additional Commissioner Hemant Keshav Patil, PRO Dasharatham, and other officials attended the inauguration.
