HYDERABAD: Eight accused have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of rowdy-sheeter Mohammad Masiuddin, who was hacked to death in broad daylight with swords. Rein Bazar police took the suspects into custody and produced them before the court on Tuesday, following which they were remanded. Police seized four swords, four motorcycles, and five mobile phones from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that they killed Masiuddin out of fear that he might eliminate them first due to past altercations during the month of Ramadan.
The information was revealed during a press conference held at the South Zone DCP office in Purani Haveli, where CCS DCP Shwetha, Mirchowk ACP Venkateshwar Rao, Rain Bazar Inspector L. Ramesh Naik, and DI Madhan Lal shared case details.
Masiuddin (27), a resident of Fatima Nagar in Falaknuma, was a known rowdy-sheeter with several criminal cases against him. He was commonly referred to as “Masi Don.” The Falaknuma police opened a rowdy sheet on him in 2017, and in 2020, Rain Bazar police detained him under the PD Act.
In 2023, tensions escalated between Masiuddin and two individuals, Mohammad Umar Khan and Mohammad Tabrez. With Masi’s wedding scheduled for 19 April this year, rumours surfaced that he intended to murder Umar Khan post-marriage. In response, the accused allegedly conspired to kill Masi before the wedding.
The plot was orchestrated by Mohammad Pasha Jilani alias Sher (42) of Farhat Nagar, Dabirpura, along with Mohammad Umar Khan (29), Mohammad Arif Khan alias Khan (40), Mohammad Ghausuddin (36), Mohammad Tabrez alias Tabbu (29), Syed Ibrahim (36), Syed Basheer alias Basheer Khan (40), and Mohammad Abubakar alias Abbu (28), all of whom are from the same area.
Tracking Masiuddin’s movements, the group received confirmed information that he would be travelling to Dabirpura on 14 April. They intercepted him near the Dabirpura flyover while he was travelling in a Tata vehicle and attacked him with swords in a gruesome and calculated assault.
Rein Bazar police are currently continuing their investigation into the case.
