Mahesh Kumar Goud backs BC JAC bandh, blames BJP and BRS for blocking reservations

Hyderabad: The Telangana BC Joint Action Committee (BC JAC) has called for a state-wide bandh on October 18 to demand 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections. In this context, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud met BC association leaders at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad and extended full support to the protest.

While addressing the meeting, Mahesh Kumar Goud described Rahul Gandhi as the pioneer of caste surveys in India. He recalled that the Congress had scientifically conducted a caste census after Independence and provided official documentation. Moreover, he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the Kamareddy Declaration announced during the elections. He made it clear that Congress would not step back under any circumstances on BC reservations.

TPCC chief blames BJP and BRS for halting BC reservation progress

Goud urged all BCs across the state to make the bandh successful. He said it should awaken the Central government to the growing demand for justice for BCs. Furthermore, he accused BJP leaders of double standards—supporting the BC Bill in the Assembly but opposing it later. He added that Rahul Gandhi’s slogan “Share of each to each” had now become a national movement.

He promised to continue the legal fight for BC rights. According to him, politics must not divide leaders when it comes to social justice. He also said that unity among all parties is essential to protect BC’s interests. Later, he questioned why BJP leaders in Telangana feared asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include the BC Reservation Bill under the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution.

Accusing the BJP and BRS of having a secret understanding, he alleged that both parties were deliberately blocking BC reservations. “We will fight at every level to secure justice,” he said. In addition, Goud pointed out that his association with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was based on mutual trust. He praised Revanth Reddy for tirelessly working to realise Rahul Gandhi’s vision of social equality.
