Hyderabad: The Telangana government has fast-tracked the Indiramma housing scheme in Kamareddy by arranging bank loans for poor families through women’s self-help groups.
Under the scheme, each eligible family gets ₹5 lakh in phased payments to build a house. To help those who couldn’t begin construction due to financial strain, officials instructed IKP federations to arrange bank loans. They also explained that loans should be repaid once construction bills are cleared.
Thanks to this support, many low-income families have started building homes with loans ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh. So far, 1,327 beneficiaries received ₹17.22 crore in loans across the district. Free sand and gravel supply has eased costs even further.
Kamareddy officials push progress under Indiramma housing scheme
Kamareddy Collector Ashish Sangwan asked MPDOs to mark every sanctioned house site. He is holding frequent review meetings and field inspections. During a visit to Shabdipur village, he told officials and beneficiaries not to delay construction and to report any issues promptly.
The district has sanctioned 11,616 houses under the scheme, and work has begun on 6,500 units. These homes are at different stages of construction. Among the sanctioned beneficiaries, 10,337 are members of women’s federations. All who requested financial help were given loans through bank linkage, payable in installments.
Ellareddy constituency had the highest number of loan approvals, followed by Kamareddy. DRDO Surender said officials remain in close touch with beneficiaries to ensure fast loan processing and steady progress.
