KTR urges BRS to mark Deeksha Diwas statewide on Nov 29

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday instructed party leaders across Telangana to observe Deeksha Diwas on November 29. The event will commemorate K. Chandrashekar Rao’s 2009 fast-unto-death for statehood.

KTR addressed party MPs, MLAs, MLCs, district presidents, and key functionaries through a teleconference. He emphasised that the event must reflect the party’s pride in its role in the Telangana movement. He reminded leaders that KCR’s hunger strike forced the central government to declare the formation of Telangana.

Honouring a key chapter in Telangana’s history

Referring to the slogan “Telangana vachudo KCR Sachchudo,” KTR called the fast a turning point in the struggle. “Deeksha Diwas marks a crucial milestone. We must honour it with pride and participation across every district,” he told leaders.

He asked all district units to hold preparatory meetings on November 26 at their respective party offices. Invitations should go out to current and former legislators, MPs, MLCs, ministers, corporation heads, and other leaders to finalise the district-level plans.

Clear directives for district-level celebrations

KTR said the main events will take place at BRS offices in each district headquarters. He urged local leaders to complete decorations including banners and flex boards by the evening of November 28.

He called for the attendance of at least 1,000 active members and leaders from every district. Celebrations will begin with floral tributes to Telangana Thalli and the martyrs. That will be followed by a ceremonial milk abhishekam on a large cut-out of the BRS chief.

While acknowledging ongoing upgrades at party offices, KTR said these should not disrupt the planning. He stressed the importance of disciplined participation to ensure the programme’s success.
