KTR urges BRS cadres to support rain-hit farmers

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao called on party cadres to support rain-hit farmers affected by unseasonal rains across Telangana over the past two days.

KTR said farmers were suffering heavy losses after rain damaged paddy and maize stocks stored in market yards and procurement centres.

He instructed BRS leaders and party workers to immediately visit all affected market yards and procurement centres across the state.

KTR blamed the Congress government for the situation and alleged that administrative failure and lack of preparedness worsened the hardship faced by farmers.

Rain-hit farmers seek procurement relief

KTR demanded that the government procure rain-soaked paddy, maize and other grains at minimum support price without citing moisture content or quality deductions.

He also urged the government to immediately supply sufficient tarpaulin covers to farmers to help protect the remaining grain stocks from further damage.

The BRS leader further demanded immediate restoration of electricity supply in market yards affected by the rains.

KTR asked the government to focus on crop procurement operations and extend support measures to protect farmers from financial losses.
