Hyderabad: Telangana remembered Chakali Ailamma, the fearless woman who fought against the feudal system during the Telangana armed peasant struggle, on her birth anniversary today. Across the state, people and political leaders paid floral tributes at her portraits and statues.
BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) also paid homage on social media platform X.
KTR recalls sacrifice of Chakali Ailamma on birth anniversary
In his message, KTR hailed Chakali Ailamma as a symbol of courage and Telangana’s fighting spirit. He said her rebellion for land and food, and her resistance against oppressive rule, remained unforgettable.
KTR recalled that the KCR government had included Ailamma’s life story in school textbooks to inspire future generations. He said the government named the Palakurthi market yard after her and began officially observing her birth and death anniversaries.
He ended his post by offering “respectful tributes” to Ailamma on her jayanti.
