Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday lashed out at the Telangana police for the re-arrest of party social media activist Shashidhar Goud also known as Nalla Balu, warning against political misuse of law enforcement.
KTR, responding via X, tagged the Director General of Police and said the people of Telangana are closely watching the events unfold. “No one stays in power forever. Our time will come. We believe in the judiciary and will continue to fight,” he wrote.
The arrest came even before Shashidhar could step out of jail, BRS leaders said, with Ramagundam police taking him into custody in a fresh case. The Additional District Court in Godavarikhani had already granted him bail earlier this week.
Shashidhar, known on social media as Nalla Balu, was initially arrested by Karimnagar Cyber Crime police on June 29 for retweeting a post from the official BRS handle that was critical of the state government. At least five separate FIRs have since been registered across Karimnagar, Godavarikhani, Ramagundam, and Hyderabad.
BRS leaders allege that the arrest was unlawful and politically motivated, claiming police acted under pressure from the ruling party. The party maintains the retweeted post contained no offensive or false material.
