KTR slams Congress over defection, says MLA theft worse than vote theft

Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Friday accused the Congress of triggering MLA defections in Telangana. He questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the issue.

Rama Rao told reporters that stealing elected representatives is worse than vote rigging. “If stealing votes is a crime, then stealing people’s elected representatives is a far bigger crime a daylight murder of democracy,” he said.

KTR slams Congress for MLA poaching, demands fresh mandate

He asked the 10 BRS MLAs who switched to the Congress to resign and face re-election.

KTR accused Rahul Gandhi of hypocrisy. He said Gandhi talks about democracy and vote fraud across the country, yet stays silent on his party’s actions in Telangana.

He called the MLA poaching a “shameless purchase” and said Gandhi had no moral authority to speak on democratic values.

“Speaking of democracy without making the defected MLAs resign is like a ghost reciting scriptures,” he said.
