Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday questioned former Minister and Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao in connection with Crime No. 243/2024 filed at Panjagutta Police Station. The case involves allegations of large-scale illegal phone tapping across Telangana. In this high-profile case, KTR questioned by authorities has drawn statewide attention.
KTR questioned at Jubilee Hills Police Station at 11:00 AM, following a formal notice issued by the SIT. This high-security session saw KTR questioned regarding key developments in the illegal phone tapping probe.
SIT warns against false narratives and urges transparency
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar confirmed that the questioning focused solely on the phone tapping investigation. The probe involves surveillance targeting political leaders, journalists, judges, businessmen, and other public figures. Notably, the fact that KTR questioned in this context has prompted discussions about political accountability.
Officials said the SIT reviewed KTR’s responses alongside existing evidence. They instructed him not to influence witnesses and notified him that he may need to appear again. This was not the first time KTR questioned, and officials indicated further questioning could follow.
Sajjanar also addressed misinformation circulating in the media. He clarified that the SIT has no role in narratives suggesting the surveillance was legal or for security reasons. He described such claims as misleading.
He reiterated that the SIT is handling the investigation transparently and in strict accordance with the law. The police urged citizens to rely only on official updates and avoid spreading unverified information.
