KTR, Etala pay tribute to PV Narasimha Rao on birth anniversary

Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday paid tribute to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on his birth anniversary, describing him as a reformer, multilingual scholar, poet, economist, statesman, and lifelong learner.

KTR highlighted that PV Narasimha Rao implemented sweeping economic reforms as Prime Minister and saved India from a severe crisis. He noted PV’s contribution to land reforms, recalling that he had even handed over his own land to the government.

He also pointed out that the previous BRS government had celebrated PV’s centenary in a grand manner, named the State Veterinary University after him, renamed Necklace Road as PV Marg, and installed a statue in his honour. The BRS had passed a resolution urging the Centre to confer the Bharat Ratna on PV. He added that PV’s daughter, Surabhi Vani Devi, was given the post of MLC by the BRS.

On the same occasion, MP Etala Rajender paid floral tributes at PV Ghat. He remembered PV Narasimha Rao as a native of Huzurabad who rose to become Prime Minister, praising him for setting up residential schools and Navodaya Vidyalayas.

Etala said PV strengthened India’s foreign policy, led liberalisation and globalisation reforms during an economic crisis, and helped transform India’s economy. He described PV’s life as an inspiration for today’s political system.
